Jakarta, RNC – Indonesia’s Covid-19 Handling Task Force on Wednesday reported 8,854 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 788,402.
From Tuesday noon until Wednesday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients was up by 6,767 to 652,513.
Within the same period, Indonesia’s official covid-19 death toll rose by 187 to 23,296. The Government has distributed the first of 700 thousand doses of covid-19 vaccines to 34 provinces for the vaccination program.
“Out of 3 million vaccine doses available in the country, 700 thousand doses have been sent. We will gradually distribute all vaccines immediately,” President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday as reported from Medcom.id.
In the first stage, vaccination will be provided to priority groups, including medical workers such as doctors and nurses in hospitals.
Meanwhile, the second priority group includes the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI)-the National Police (Polri) team and teachers as well as the public.
